The William G. Gaessler Papers include biographical materials, correspondence, agricultural experiment station annual reports, project reports, clippings, honors, photographs, publications, speeches, and reference files. The papers document research on sorghum, bindweed, pericarp in corn, and other United States Dept. of Agriculture/Iowa State College experiment station projects. Included are personal and financial documentation as well as correspondence from other USDA agricultural experiment stations in states such as Hawaii, Nevada, California, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Ohio, and Nebraska. Other notable items include materials related to: Coover Recognition Day; agricultural experiment station reports, notes, charts; an assortment of World War II propaganda as well as Iowa State University's involvement in atomic research; four writings of Henry A. Wallace, and a small amount of fraternity/secret organizations catalogs. Files documenting Gaessler's professional involvements represent organizations such as the American Chemical Society, the Osborn Research Club, and Phi Delta Chi.
